Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) Procedure
In doing some research I came across something that could pose a dilemma when registering patrons:
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has a provision of privacy called the: Address Confidentiality Program (ACP). which can be used when dealing with government agencies-of which we are one.
The ACP serves as a confidential mail forwarding system to protect victims of domestic violence, assault, and/or stalking. The Secretary of the Commonwealth assigns a substitute address to the individual to be used as a legal mailing address-ACP staff retrieves the individual’s mail and forwards it to the individual.
I don’t know what kind of identification this would involve. I don’t know if the ACP address goes on a person’s license however the RMV is working hand-in-hand with this program. I don’t know if this is even an issue that a patron would announce that they have an ACP address. But just in case you should have an issue with it-we accept the ACP address and NOT ask for the real address.
