Cell Phone Use Procedure
Cell phones and beepers are disruptive to the deliverance of library service and the quiet space patrons need to conduct their study and research. The ringing of these phones and the resulting conversations compromise the atmosphere of our public library. Recognizing this, the Taunton Public Library Board of Trustees approved a policy in October 1996 prohibiting the use of such devices in the main library.
Therefore, out of respect for other patrons conducting research, study and attending programs, and for library staff trying to deliver library services, cell phone use is prohibited in the main library.
We also wish to respect your privacy and right to communicate freely and offer the front foyer and the area by the children’s room rear doors as the only two areas approved for cell phone use.
Should you forget the policy while using our library we will kindly remind you. Should you insist on using your phone, we will insist that you leave the library.
