City of Taunton Drug Free Work Place Disciplinary Policy Policy
Per the City of Taunton’s Drug Free work Place Policy Statement, if an employee fails to participate in the program to maintain a drug free work place, fails to avail him or herself to substance abuse assistance programs or fails to notify or work place drug stature convictions in the allotted time period state, this will be just cause for adherence to the “Drug Free Work Place Disciplinary Policy”.
If an employee has been found to use or abuse a controlled substance during working hours, the following disciplinary actions will take place:
The employee will receive a verbal reprimand from the supervisor of Department Head and will be required to enter a counseling and/or rehabilitation program. This employee will also be required to present documentation of his/her attendance of such programs(s) to his/her employer.
The employee will receive a written reprimand from the supervisor or Department Head and will be required to enter a counseling and/or rehabilitation program. This employee will also be required to present documentation of his/her attendance of such programs(s) to his/her employer.
The employee will be terminated from his/her positions in accordance with applicable law and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement or other contract governing the employment of the employee.
If an employee has been convicted of unlawful manufacture, distribution or dispensing of a controlled substance in the Work Place, the employee will be terminated from his/her position in accordance with applicable law and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement or other contract governing the employment of the employee.
