Lost Book Payments Procedure

It is not an official policy of the Taunton Public Library to refund money to patrons once they have found and returned lost materials they paid for. But, common sense-- which there seems to be precious little of here –tells us that refunding patrons their money for lost Taunton items once the materials have been found and returned, makes some sense and good public relations. This is procedure will continue. For receipts, you will use the photocopied slips I have just made up and that are in the file at the front desk, until we can order correct forms from Davol Printing.

It absolutely does not make any sense to refund patrons money for lost items that have been found and returned but do not belong to Taunton. Do not reimburse patrons for materials that do not belong to Taunton. This “policy” stops today, July 24, 2006.

Should you find these materials, you will be reimbursed, minus any overdue and processing charges, for Taunton materials only if the materials are in undamaged, good condition and as long as you retain this receipt.

All fees collected for materials not belonging to Taunton, are forwarded by the Taunton Public Library, to that owning library. You must contact the owning library for their own individual policy should you be seeking reimbursement for materials not belonging to Taunton.
