Patrons Using The Phone Procedure

No patron - absolutely no patron - is to use the phone. This is a library phone--a business phone--only. There is a pay phone across the street.

I have said on many occasions, use your common sense but some staff have more common sense that others-- I know that many patrons have been allowed to use the phone up in Reference on a continuous basis. Many of these reference patrons have been over stepping their patron/staff boundaries and it is due in a large part to the use of the phone.

IF IT IS AN EMERGENCY and an elderly patron or child/teen needs a ride home, YOU can make the call for them and turn the phone over to them. The patron must not come behind the desk. YOU must remain in control of the phone and the desk area.
