Reserves placed from home

Page history last edited by Daisy 2 yrs ago

Museum Passes can now be reserved by patrons from home as long as the patron has already been registered here at the library first.

Daisy has perfected the link between Library Insight and our web page as of yesterday and already a patron has tried it from home. (And although she had a problem with her pin #, she loved it!!). You can try it also. Just go to our web page and follow the directions. When you get to the prompt to put in your library card and pin number use: 123 both times and hit enter. This will give you a sense of how the system works and how it will treat a patron that is not registered. Patrons that are already registered in our Library Insight program will be o.k. as long as they remember their pin.

If a patron is registered but has a blocked library card, they will still be able to reserve a pass. There is no way of Library Insight blocking blocked SAILS patrons because we are not linked directly into SAILS from Library Insight. You will only know they are blocked when they come into retrieve the pass and you check them against SAILS. They will not be able to take the pass until they clear or pay down their fines to lift the block. Our web site will have a notice on it stating that they will not be able to check out their pass if they are blocked. Our web site will urge them that it is a good idea to check their SAILS accounts (with directions on how to do this) prior to reserving their passes.

Please answer all phone questions regarding the registering on line as there is, of course, a learning curve for some patrons

Patrons will get an invalid message if:

  • 1. They are not already registered in Library Insight.
  • 2. Type in the wrong library card #
  • 3. Type in the wrong pin # or no pin #

These are the questions you’ll be asked, so answer accordingly. They only need to come in if they have not registered or to get the passes.

Debbie has included this new information on the list of passes at the main desk and has also made handouts for you to give patrons when they book at the desk. Please use them. Any questions, ask me or Debbie or Daisy. As you can see this has been a joint project and something we have wanted to provide for quite sometime, so let’s continue to work together with this.
