Security Policy

It shall be the policy of the Taunton Public Library Board of Trustees that video closed circuit television monitoring will be done for the purpose of security of library personnel, patrons, and property.

• Video monitoring of public areas for security purposes at the Taunton Public Library is limited to uses that do not violate the reasonable expectation of privacy as defined by law.

• Monitoring for security purposes will be conducted in a professional, ethical and legal manner.

• Information obtained through video monitoring will be used exclusively for security and law enforcement purposes.

• Information obtained through video monitoring will be released only to the appropriate Library, City or Law Enforcement officials.

• Information obtained in violation of this policy may not be used in a disciplinary proceeding against a member of the library administration or staff.
