Guidelines when computers are down Procedure

 

1. When the SAILS system is down use Notepad to record the Check-Out transactions using the patron's library card, then indent and check out the materials.

 

2. Circulation During Down Times

    • A. CHECK OUT ITEMS TO NOTEPAD
    • B. DO NOT CHECK-IN ITEMS
      • 1) Put returned items in library shopping Bags
      • 2) Put bags in the "Big Room"
    • C. DO NOT RENEW ITEMS
    • D. DO NOT ISSUE NEW PATRON CARDS
    • E. DO NOT REPLACE PATON CARDS
    • F. TEMPORARY INTERNET PERMISSION FORMS CAN STILL BE ISSUED

3. Museum Passes

 

    • You can not check patrons against SAILS for new users but passes can be checked out via Library Insight for pre registered users.

4. After System Is Back Up and Once Debbie Conrad give Ok.

    • A. All Check-Out transactions need to be inputted into the system
    • B. All Returned Items can then be checked in
      • 1) If item is checked in on that date as overdue - do "forgiven" to waive the late charges
      • 2) Any late fees for previously returned overdue items remain on the patron’s record & need to be paid.
